European Researchers’ Night in Rijeka

Our team took part in the European Researchers’ Night, held on Friday, 25th of September 2026, from 17 to 22 h in the Delta space of the former Exportdrvo building in Rijeka. More than 250 researchers of the University of Rijeka presented their work to the public at more than 40 science stations, through experiments, workshops, games, exhibitions, and conversations. All activities were free and open to visitors of all ages. On the same day, a morning programme was held for more than 400 secondary school students.

The Faculty of Physics took part with four stations. Filip Reščić, Tomislav Terzić, Christian Pfeifer, and Maykoll Anthonny Reyes Hung ran the station “Falling through space and time”, together with Mateo Paulišić, who led the station, and Josiah Olumuyiwa Faniyi.

The Researchers’ Night in Rijeka was organised by the University of Rijeka, its Centre for the Popularisation and Promotion of Science, and the University of Rijeka Foundation, with the City of Rijeka as a partner, and the Rijeka Centre for Technical Culture and the Natural History Museum Rijeka as associated partners. The event is traditionally held on the last Friday of September. This year it also took place in Split, Zadar, Pula, and Dubrovnik, attracting more than 20,000 visitors in total. It is part of the project Blue-connect 3.0 – Reconnecting Science with the Blue Society, coordinated by the University of Split and funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe programme. More about the programme can be found on the Ja istražujem website.
