Sami Caroff from the Laboratoire d’Annecy de Physique des Particules (LAPP) visited the Faculty of Physics of the University of Rijeka from 9th to 16th of March 2025 as a guest of Tomislav Terzić. Sami Caroff is an expert in very-high-energy gamma-ray astronomy. He works closely with Tomislav Terzić on searches for Lorentz invariance violation (LIV), both within the Large-Sized Telescope (LST) experiment and within the γ-ray LIV working group, which Tomislav Terzić coordinates.
The visit was used to work on LIVelihood, the software used in LIV analyses, of which Sami Caroff is the main author. The experience and knowledge exchanged during the visit are expected to be used in three scientific papers. During his stay, Sami Caroff gave a seminar for the staff and students of the Faculty of Physics.
The visit was funded through the University of Rijeka project for the internationalisation of science and arts.
